i’a poke [SF]

I recently learned about poke, and it was love at first bite! Poke is a raw fish salad that originated as a Hawaiian appetizer, and it’s essentially deconstructed sushi in a bowl. Yesterday, Jenn, David, Thuan, and I tried out i’a poke, and it just so happened to be their grand opening weekend! Their menu offers premade and build-your-own options for sushi burritos and poke bowls. You can see the list of toppings and proteins below:

We all decided to go with large, build-your-own poke bowls and piled them up with lots of raw fish and toppings in a Chipotle-style assembly line.

The large bowl was actually incredibly filling, and I couldn’t finish it (though I made sure to eat all of the raw fish). “It tasted fresh,” David said. “I really liked the variety of toppings to choose from. I would come back.”

“This place definitely hits the spot for lunch without weighing you down,” Jenn explained. I agree, and I’ll definitely have to come back to try their sushi burrito!
