Apparently, brunch reservations at Founding Farmers go quickly, so we made our reservation a few weeks in advance of our trip to DC. Upon arrival, we were met with a jam-packed lobby and the delicious aroma of a classic American brunch.
I was in the mood for something sweet, so I went with the Bananas Foster Stuffed French Toast. My dish consisted of three bricks of syrup-soaked, cream-filled, lightly fried bread with a scattering of caramelized bananas on top. You can see the cream oozing out of the french toast. In all honesty, they tasted more like donuts than french toast, but it was still pretty amazing.
Elizabeth ordered the Sausage, Mushroom, and Spinach Pan Scramble, which she thoroughly enjoyed.
Ilana tried the Breakfast Chicken and Waffles, which came with scrambled eggs and gravy.
I also had a satisfying Classic New York Egg Soda, which was chocolate syrup, milk, and jerk soda. AKA, fizzy chocolate milk.
Founding Farmers was definitely my favorite restaurant of the trip, and I would happily go back again the next time I’m in the area!
