The Oceanaire Seafood Room
I got the wonderful opportunity the other weekend to try various dishes created with Alaskan seafood! The event was at The Oceaniare Seafood Room (which uses Alaskan seafood in their dishes), and included a couple of presentations explaining the recipes both from the perspective of a chef and a nutritionist.
Above was a Alaska Red King Crab Cocktail with cabbage slaw, avocado, hearts of palm, and kimchi dressing. This was one of my favorite dishes of the evening, with the crab tasting incredibly tender and pairing beautifully with the kimchi dressing.
We also got to try these Dilled Alaska Cod Burgers with avocado spread, which we ate as lettuce wraps. A recipe by nutritionist Michelle Dudash, these cod burgers were like a fish version of an In-n-Out protein-style burger, and I thoroughly appreciated the added touch of avocado.
We also tried this delicious Soy Glazed Alaska Black Cod on a bed of soba noodle salad with toasted peanuts and Thai peanut sauce.
Lastly, we have the Seared Alaska Halibut with burrata, heirloom tomatoes, basil, and a balsamic glaze.
All in all, this was a delicious taste of Alaskan seafood, and it was great to see it being used in a whole range of recipes from salads to burgers.
